Ahh, rest! Some people love it and can sit in bed all day, others find it hard to sit still for a minute. Similarly, if you find yourself getting sick / run down a lot - it could be your body callin out to you to go easy! But are you listening?
1. You cannot pour from an empty cup:
A lot of people are so busy taking care of others that they forget to take care of themselves. If you fill your own cup first, then you can give more to everyone and everything in your life.
2. Say “No” to societal standards:
Hustle culture has benefited and motivated a lot of people, but it's kind of turned toxic. Working 80 hour weeks, and never taking a break has led to an increase in burnout. You don’t need to “suck it up and keep going”, you need to take a break!
3. Balance is a tool we should all try to master:
This definitely comes easier to some, but balance is a helpful tool to assist us with this ‘rest or work’ dilemma. If you operate from a balanced position, you would easily recognise when it's time to work and time to rest. Realistically, most of us sit on one side or the other; but if we observe this over the next week, we can make a change.
If you are feeling run down/tired, this is a sign - TAKE TIME TO REST!
