Things to do in NZ

New Zealand is known for its stunning landscapes and adrenalin seeking activities.

Alessia and I are not a thrill seeking couple, so our stay in NZ was at a slow pace, taking in all the sights and enjoying some good food!

Wanaka

Wanaka was the first place we drove to after we got off the plane and it's carved out such a special place in our heart now. We had so many beautiful memories here at the Airbnb with Brad & Brad. It was cozy and the views were absolutely mesmerising.

We went for a drive to see some of the expensive houses around the lake and were all dreaming of the day where we can afford to have one of our own!

There isn't a lot to do in Wanaka as it's a quiet spot.

I imagine coming here to write a book or spend time with family, just a beautiful place to escape to.

We will definitely go back!

Below are some places you need to go to within Wanaka:

Wanaka Tree

Scgroggin

Big Fig

Blue River

Did a trail walk here which took about 40mins. There was a longer one which would have been a massive hike but we weren't prepared for it so opted for the short one. It was still sooo worth it!

Cardrona

For this trip, we spontaneously decided to go to the snow, so we just did a mini-trip and went on the Gondola's and ate at one of the restaurants.

If you go to the top (via the Gondola) there is a big swing you can get a photo on with epic views.

Would love to come back here and do some skiing and spend a bit more time!

Moke Lake

This was a spot Brad & Brad found many years ago driving around NZ and honestly, it was one of the most beautiful places we visited. So peaceful & quiet, with these cute little ducks that followed us around. Apparently you can camp or do glamping out there, so might go back and try it because it was absolutely stunning!

Arrow Town & Ayrburn

Spent a few hours walking around Arrow Town exploring the shops. Was a cute little town! Loved Kahwah Cafe, so make sure you stop by if you are there.

On a different day we went to Ayrburn. We went on a weekend and it was SO BUSY! Needed bookings and every venue was packed, so highly recommend going on a week day. Spent the whole day here, eating, drinking wine and chatting with friends.

Glenorchy & Lake Wakatipu

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Lake Wakatipu took our breath away.

There were lots of tourists around getting photos but this is a must visit spot.

We didn't stay for long - not sure if there was much to do around the area? But would have liked to have a picnic out here if the weather was a bit warmer.

Queenstown

Sooo much to do here! From adventure sports to dining, this was really the hub where we spent a lot of time in!

Below are some places you need to go to within Queenstown:

The Luge

Margo's

Fu Dog

Madam Woo

Cookie Time
