Speaker 1

Hey Team! This week, we're going to be talking about change. As you guys know, Taz and I are coming up to a massive change in our lives. So we sort of wanted to share how you can overcome the fear of change and also talk about the importance of change in your life. So some of you might know and some of you won't.

00:00:17:10 - 00:00:27:33

Speaker 1

This is our last day living with Max. So this is the last time you'll see a weekly reminder filmed in this particular space because we are moving into our own place together.

00:00:27:34 - 00:00:31:28

Speaker 2

It's looking pretty empty in here at the moment. It's weird to see it like this.

00:00:31:38 - 00:00:55:16

Speaker 1

And to be honest, the whole thing has been quite scary. Taz and I had a conversation last night and we sort of spoke about the fact that this is the last time this version of us will ever exist individually in a relationship. Like, a lot is about to change, and that's really scary. This version of us together and separately will no longer exist once we move out.

00:00:56:19 - 00:01:01:38

Speaker 1

And this version has been so good, and I've personally found that a little bit confronting and a little bit scary.

00:01:01:39 - 00:01:07:17

Speaker 2

Yeah, because you don't know what's next. Like, will we be as good? Yeah. When we move!?

00:01:07:22 - 00:01:28:06

Speaker 1

Will we be as happy together? Will we be as happy as individuals? Will we love the space? Will we hate the space? Like, yeah. So much change is coming and we just have to prepare for that. So I thought, what better time to talk about change than right now? To share our experience with you and to also help you learn how to overcome change and make the most of it.

00:01:28:07 - 00:01:39:07

Speaker 1

So I think we need to start out how important it is to have change in your life. Without change, we wouldn't grow, we wouldn't learn. We would just stay still. Life would be actually quite.

00:01:39:09 - 00:01:39:41

Speaker 2

Boring aswell

00:01:39:48 - 00:01:44:18

Speaker 1

because it would be predictable and just plain.

00:01:44:48 - 00:01:58:46

Speaker 2

So if you think about it, change is just a part of everyday life in nature. So it happens all the time. That's why we have different seasons. And although I love Summer, if we only had Summer, we wouldn't have the beauty of life as it.

00:01:58:46 - 00:02:18:15

Speaker 1

Is without winter, we wouldn't know how much we love summer or vice versa. For some of us, because I love winter more than summer, personally. So we need to embrace these ebbs and flows of life that is change and just say it's going to happen literally. How can I feel most comfortable with it? So we're going to give you some tips on how you can do that.

00:02:18:20 - 00:02:36:07

Speaker 2

I mean, my first tip is just acknowledging that we actually don't have control of life like we think that we can control things like even by us moving house, we have brought change into our life. But at the end of the day, life is going to move regardless of if we decide to or not.

00:02:36:09 - 00:02:37:02

Speaker 1

Yeah.

00:02:37:20 - 00:03:00:48

Speaker 2

A friend of mine once told me this quote that stuck with me massively and it was “let go or be dragged”. Oh, so I've taken a lot from that in the sense of when change starts to happen, it's better to accept it than to grasp onto trying to bring back the old. Yeah, because life is actually bringing in a new path for you.

00:03:01:07 - 00:03:08:45

Speaker 2

So just like keep going down that path. Even if it's scary. Even if it's confusing because there's a reason that you're going that way.

00:03:09:03 - 00:03:22:35

Speaker 1

It might not seem like it, but going with that path is the path of least resistance. The path of most resistance would be No, no, no. Like in Taz’s quote, it says “let go or be dragged”. Do you want to be dragged?

00:03:22:38 - 00:03:26:06

Speaker 2

No, because you're going in that direction. Life will take you.

00:03:26:06 - 00:03:45:42

Speaker 1

You might as well start walkin’. And if you guys want to feel more comfortable with change and feel a little more in control, you can educate yourself on the change that you're currently going through. So, for example, we could go and speak to Taz’s two best friends who are in a relationship and currently live together and ask them what changes did you go through?

00:03:45:42 - 00:03:49:46

Speaker 1

How did you move through it? So we can maybe navigate what we can expect.

00:03:49:46 - 00:04:05:24

Speaker 2

Another way of educating yourself through it is obviously just Googling it. I had to look up a few things when I was trying to connect our energy and gas and water for the first time. I've never done anything like that, so I googled a few things and found my answers there.

00:04:05:24 - 00:04:22:07

Speaker 1

We've listed a lot of points that will help you move through change more efficiently and easier in the blog, so definitely check that out, give it a little read. But the main point that I want to hone in on is when I'm going through change. I have to take it day by day. I have to take it slowly.

00:04:22:07 - 00:04:36:38

Speaker 1

It has to be digestible and because otherwise I get too overwhelmed. Yes. So just bring it into little bite sized pieces. Take it day by day. You don't have to be in control. Just move through it and be kind to yourself.

00:04:36:44 - 00:04:57:10

Speaker 2

Regardless of the change you're going through is a good change or more painful change. Just know that it is happening for a reason. That's what you were kind of getting at before, like life is pushing you in a certain path, so we're here to support you. TeamTANDA is here and like we were saying before, change is going to happen regardless if we want it or not, it's going to happen.

00:04:57:19 - 00:05:00:46

Speaker 2

So embrace it, accept it, and keep moving because you're doing great.

00:05:00:48 - 00:05:05:30

Speaker 1

That's it for this week. Good luck to you all and we'll talk soon. Bye!

As you guys know, this week is a big one for us and it includes ALOT of change. So we thought it would be a great chance to talk about change and how to overcome the fear of it!

Change is an important part of life. From the moment we are born, we are constantly faced with physical, emotional, and environmental changes. Despite this, change can be one of the most feared and resisted aspects of life. This fear of change can often stem from our need for stability, comfort, and predictability. However, if we learn to overcome our fear of change, we can unlock the power of transformation and this allows us to experience growth, fulfilment, and success in our lives.

So, how can we overcome the fear of change? Here are some tips:

  1. Recognize and acknowledge the fear: It's important for us to acknowledge that fear of change is a normal and natural emotion, everyone has felt this at some point in their lives! Instead of avoiding it, acknowledge it and allow yourself to feel it. Recognising the fear can help you confront it head-on and take steps to overcome it.

  2. Reframe your mindset: Instead of viewing change as “scary” or a “threat”, try instead to see it as an opportunity for growth and learning. Change can open new doors, create new possibilities, and lead to personal development. Embracing it gives you a chance to evolve and become a better version of yourself.

  3. Educate yourself: Often, fear of change arises from the unknown, so educating yourself about your upcoming situation or change can help reduce the fear and uncertainty you’re feeling. Take the time to research and understand the changes you are facing, you can even try and seek guidance from friends, family or people who have gone through something similar!

  4. Build a support system: Surround yourself with supportive friends, family, or mentors who can encourage you, guide you, and reassure you during times of change. Having a support system can help you navigate through the challenges and uncertainties that come with change.

  5. Practice self-care: Change can be stressful so it's important to take care of yourself during the process. Make self-care a priority by taking time to rest, eat well, exercise, and practise relaxation techniques such as meditation or deep breathing. Taking care of yourself can help you manage stress and maintain a healthy mindset.

Having change in our lives is so important. It brings new experiences, opportunities, and challenges that can help us grow, learn, and evolve. Change pushes us out of our comfort zones, and leads us towards our goals and dreams. Without it, we can become stagnant, complacent, and miss out on fun, exciting and crucial life experiences and opportunities for personal growth.

If you think about it, change is also a natural part of the world around us. Nature constantly goes through cycles of change - the changing of seasons, the growth of plants, the ageing of animals and insects - and well it wont come as a shock to you that we are part of this natural cycle. Resisting change goes against the very nature of life itself.

This week we encourage you to embrace change as an opportunity for growth. Reflect and push yourself out of your comfort zone by challenging your current mindset to welcome even just a small change with open arms!
